Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) might not be something you immediately think of when it comes to a boutique design firm. It’s a rare occasion indeed that any decisions or procedures we engage in have the power to affect a very large sphere of influence.

However, it is an integral principle of Dao By Design’s CEO, Ryan McLaughlin, and by extension the company at large, that we all have a responsibility to support projects that better lives and encourage people to rise to their full potential.

Below are some of the projects Dao By Design actively supports, either through financial assistance, or donation of our technical and creative services.

The Library Project

The Library ProjectThe Library Project donates books and libraries to under financed schools and orphanages in the developing world. They share Dao By Design’s belief that education is the key motivator to breaking the cycle of poverty that exists in the developing world.

Some initiatives the Library Project uses to accomplish their goals are:

  • Getting the local community involved through book drives and awareness raising
  • Providing libraries to under financed orphanages and elementary schools
  • Partnering with local NGOs (charities)

Volunthai: Volunteers for Thailand

VolunthaiMichael Anderson came to Thailand in 1999 after graduating from the University of Texas. In the remote province of Ubon, not far from the Mekong River, he stumbled across a homestay/teach opportunity that literally changed his life.

Today, Volunthai: Volunteers for Thailand, exists to recreate that experience for other travelers. Their requirements are not based on degrees or achievements, but on personality and willingness to be immersed in a completely new cultural environment. A Volunthai homestay is a chance to see how another people live, think, and behave. It’s an experience that’s not always predictable or easy, but is certainly unforgettable.
