A simple SEO plugin for Joomla 1.5

Well, I’ve officially smashed together my first Joomla 1.5 plugin - autoMetaDescSEO - crappy name, I know.

You can get all the details about the plugin at its “official” homepage, but briefly, the plugin simply takes a set chunk of text from the page’s content and slips it into the page’s meta description tag.

This was initially created for a site I was working on that had a number of pages, which I had no intention of hand-inserting meta data for on a article by article basis. This plugin automates the process.

It’s likely full of errors, and may make your computer mate with your printer. I take no liability for their offspring.

Would like to know if whether or not Joomla would start charging a fee after giving free users hands on joomla? Is it free for some trial period, then later start charging fees?

Thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim, I’m not at all affiliated with Joomla or the Joomla developer community - but I think I can solidly say that Joomla will always be free. Joomla has been created not by a company or corporation, but by an active and dynamic community of developers whom come and go. Though there are people that drive this community and keep it organized, they are but community members - no one “owns” Joomla.

There are always going to be parts of Joomla that people will charge for. Some components, plugins, modules, support, etc… but this is purely on an item by item basis - and through no official affiliation with the Joomla project.
